Dom Perignon Best Years

Dom Perignon’s best years were 1990, 1995, 1996, 2002, 2004, and 2008 (if we were to pick a few!)

Here are the vintage reports and the finest vintage bottles to buy.

1. 1990

The year had remarkable vegetation growth until spring frost hit the Champagne region in April. These conditions subsided during summer, and the harvest was made on September 11.

The vintage Champagne styles produced were Brut, Brut Rose, Oenotheque, and Rose Oenotheque.

2. 1995

1995 had a cloudy spring that delayed vine flowering, but the heatwave in summer compensated for it. Chardonnay grapes were harvested on September 18 and Pinot Noir on September 25.

The vintage Champagne wine bottles produced were the Dom Perignon Oenotheque, Brut, Brut Rose, and Rose Plenitude 2.

3. 1996

The year had fluctuating weather conditions but became hot a month before grape-picking, and the harvest was successfully made on September 16. The vintage Champagne wine bottles produced were the Dom Perignon Oenotheque, Brut, and Brut Rose.

4. 2002

This vintage year was incredible - the spring was warm and dry, and the summer had long sunny days. While late August had heavy rainfall, this was compensated for by the brilliant weather conditions that unfolded towards late September.

The sparkling wine bottles produced were the Brut, Brut Rose, and Plenitude 2.

5. 2004

2004 had brilliant weather - vine growth was tremendous, and the grapes displayed excellent ripeness. The harvest began on September 24, and the Champagne wines produced were the Brut and Brut Rose.

6. 2008

This vintage year started off with terrible weather dominated by overcast skies. Thankfully, the conditions settled before harvest, and the grapes were riper than expected.

The only wine bottle produced that year was the Dom Perignon Brut.

Dom Perignon Champagne is a Prestige Cuvee of the Moet & Chandon Champagne House.

How many Dom Perignon vintages have been released?

Dom Perignon has released vintages from 1921 to 2010.

  • There are 44 Dom Perignon Brut vintage bottles produced from 1921 to 2010.
  • Between 1959 and 2006, 26 Dom Perignon Brut Rose vintages were produced.

Why was 2010 a challenging year for Dom Perignon Champagne?
