The Perrier Jouet Champagne House was founded by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët in 1811.

While the sparkling cuvees produced at this Champagne House consist of the typical Champagne blend, they emphasize Chardonnay grapes in their prestigious Grand Brut blends

Today the Perrier Jouet House is under the Pernod Ricard umbrella of brands.

It owns over 160 acres of vineyards, predominantly the Grand Crus of Cramant and Avize.

Let’s get to know the Champagnes collections produced at Perrier Jouet.

The Wine Collections of Perrier Jouet

Only the cellar master at Perrier Jouet is privy to the secret of the distinctive Perrier Jouet style.

The Champagne house produces two collections, with three styles of Champagne in each - let’s take a look:

1. Blason Collection

The Blason Collection consists of three non-vintage Champagne styles that feature up to 15% reserve wines.

  • Grand Brut: A gorgeous blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay, with a dosage of 8-10 grams per liter.
  • Rosé: The Blason Rose is a blend of 25% Pinot Meunier, 25% Chardonnay, and 50% Pinot Noir. 10-15% of the Pinot Noir is still red wine, and the dosage is the same as the Grand Brut.
  • Blanc de Blancs: Made from 100% Chardonnay, the Blason Blanc de Blancs Champagne has a dosage of 8 grams per liter.

2. Belle Epoque Collection

Perrier Jouet’s Belle Epoque Collection consists of their finest vintage Champagnes. These wines are all aged for at least six years and have a dosage of 8 grams per liter.

These cuvees are only produced during exceptional growing years, and only 30 wines have been made to date.

  • Belle Epoque Brut: First appearing in 1964, the original Belle Epoque Brut is instantly recognizable. Made from 45% Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims vineyard, 50% Chardonnay from Cramant Grand Crus, and just 5% Pinot Meunier.
  • Belle Epoque Rose: First produced in 1978, the Belle Epoque Rose is only made in extremely limited quantities during exceptional growing years. The perfect blend of 45% Pinot Noir (11% still red wine,) 50% Pinot Meunier, and 5% Chardonnay.
  • Belle Epoque Blanc De Blancs: Created in 1993 to celebrate the new millennium, this 100% Chardonnay Sparkling Wine is created from two of the best parcels of Chardonnay. The Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs is the rarest bottling from Perrier Jouet, with only 40,000 bottles (or less) during exception growing years.
