What’s the difference between my Vinovest trading account (Vinovest Marketplace) and my Vinovest managed portfolio?

Excellent question. Your Vinovest managed portfolio is actively managed, meaning that the Vinovest team makes decisions about which assets to buy, as well as when to buy, sell, or hold them for optimal returns. Clients in the Starter and Plus tiers will also have decisions made by our algorithm and team of portfolio managers, while Premium and Grand Cru clients can also provide input into which wines and whiskeys they buy and sell. The goal is to protect and grow your wealth within your desired time horizons and risk levels.

The trading account allows you to take full control of your portfolio. You choose which wines to add, when to buy and sell them, and what price you are willing to pay for them. This account is best suited for people who are familiar with fine wine and want 100% control of their portfolio.

Managed portfolio

  • Portfolio built by our team and algorithm (and your input, for Premium and Grand Cru tiers)
  • Minimum investment of $1,000
  • Allows for wine and whiskey investing
  • Wines bought and sold by the case only
  • Value of portfolio contributes to account tier
  • Good for users who want to minimize risk while diversifying into wine

Trading account (Vinovest Marketplace)

  • You choose and buy individual wines
  • No minimum amount required
  • Allows for wine trading only (at present)
  • Wines bought and sold by the bottle as well as by the case
  • Value of holdings does not affect account tier
  • Good for users comfortable assuming greater risk

You can open a trading portfolio on the Vinovest Marketplace even if you do not have a managed portfolio through Vinovest.
