Critics Scores
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 1989 Barolo Riserva Falletto is a deep, mineral-driven wine loaded with dark plums, smoke, prunes, plums and spices. Massive and virile, it is an assertive Barolo that commands attention for its explosive fruit and multi-faceted personality. The tannins are imposing, but also beautifully balanced. This is Giacosa’s most explosive, rich wine in 1989, and it is utterly divine. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2030. (AG)
Wine Spectator
This can go for ages. Massive, with superb fruit. Young and spicy, with the long aroma of a mature wine, but it's fresh on the palate.
Vinous
Bruno Giacosa's 1989 Barolo Riserva Falletto is another of the wines of the night. The pure texture, aromatic presence and structure of Nebbiolo are simply captivating. (AG)
