(Domaine Anne-Françoise Gros Richebourg Grand Cru Red) Highly complex, perfumed and deeply pitched aromas of spice, pepper, underbrush and elegant black pinot fruit with violet, plum and cassis serve as a dramatic introduction to the powerful, punchy and muscular flavors that are chewy and robust yet remain quite well balanced. The nose is at present much more complex than the flavors but if the flavors add a similar amount of depth, my score could be very conservative. (Drink starting 2013).
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The nose is quite muted, just notes of ripe raspberry. With some aeration, wonderful floral scents waft from the glass. The palate is well balanced, perfect power and finesse. Very concentrated with great definition. Blackcurrant, blueberry and minerals all with nigh perfect acidity. Just oozes across the palate like a Rolls Royce driving over a shag pile carpet. Wonderful. Drink from 2008. Tasted January 2005.
