Decanter
A classic Grande Cuvée showcasing exuberant freshness and ripe softness (quite how chef de cave Eric Lebel pulls this off never ceases to amaze me). This particular blend includes 130 reserve wines from a dozen vintages, with the youngest base wine being the 2004 – of course, therein lies Lebel’s secret! There’s some attractive bottle-age maturity that is just beginning to emerge from the more primary citrus, apple and pomegranate fruit, which segues into creamy almond, honeycomb, papaya, acacia and spice. It has a lovely weight and mouthfeel with lots of structured vinosity. The finish is dry, autolytic, savoury and long. (JS)
