Critics Scores
James Suckling
Offers strawberry, cedar and flowers on the nose. Full-bodied,with a solid core of ripe fruit that builds to big, polished tannins.Very rich and powerful, with pure fruit. Best after 2013.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Voerzio's 2005 Barolo Cerequio is the most complex and structured of these offerings. Pretty, floral aromas lead to soft, expressive red fruit as this perfumed Barolo opens up in the glass. The wine continues to grow as its layers of inner sweetness flow with exceptional grace and elegance. Round, refined tannins give this wine a final sense of polish on the close. This is a remarkable effort in this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025

Vinous
The 2005 Barolo Cerequio, usually one of Voerzio's brighter wines, has become darker and more powerful over time. Shades of menthol, sage and lavender add complexity to a core of dark fruit. Beams of firm tannin build to the huge, searing finish. The 2005 could use a little more time in bottle, but I imagine it will always retain the raw, pulsating tannins that are so typical of the vintage.
