The 2009 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Vénus is sublime. Utterly beguiling in its aromatics and texture, the Vénus graces the palate with exquisite finesse. The Vénus emerges from a small parcel in the La Fosse lieu dit planted in 1959 that has never been mechanically farmed. With time in the glass, the 2009 fleshes out beautifully yet retains its gracious, understated personality. Deceptively medium-bodied today, the 2009 is likely to flesh out with further time in the bottle. Candied lemon peel, mint, spice and floral notes are laced into the expressive, inviting finish. The 2009 was fermented and aged in neutral oak, and bottled with no dosage. Disgorged: June 2015.
