Medium red. Very ripe red fruit, chocolate and menthol aromas lifted by flowers and minerals. Supple, fruit-driven and sweet, with a smooth texture given shape by harmonious acidity. As attractive as this village wine already is, it's still tightly coiled and capable of gaining in complexity with time in bottle. Finishes ripely tannic and long.

A very Vosne nose is both seductive and highly spiced as are the very suave, round and fleshy middle weight flavors that culminate in a detailed, intense and mineral-inflected finish that, despite the richness of the mid-palate, is actually linear in shape at the present. This is really quite a nice villages and worth considering.

The 2009 Vosne-Romanee is layered with dark cherries, plums, cinnamon and licorice. It is a fleshy, seductive 2009 village level wine, yet it has also maintained more than enough freshness to drink well for a number of years. There is plenty of depth and texture in the glass. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.
