Critics Scores
Wine Spectator
Features pure, ripe aromas of blackberry, blueberry and spice, deeply extracted and firmly tannic. The fruit pushes through, gaining depth as the tannins lend the berry flavors grip. Best from 2014 through 2025. 117 cases made.
Vinous
Dana’s 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Helms Vineyard opens with a burst of super-ripe sweet red, mocha, berries, flowers and sweet spices. The Helms boasts stunning textural depth and richness. In a vintage in which so many wines are big and structured, the Helms stands out for its seamless fruit, silky tannins and superb purity. While the wine clearly has the power of the vintage, there is virtually no sensation of tannin. There is absolutely nothing out of balance in this stunning, virtuosic wine. Sweet floral and spice notes add gorgeous lift on the beautifully delineated finish. In a word: dazzling. The 2010 was fermented in barrel and spent 18 months in French oak, 100 new. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2030.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
There are only slightly over 100 cases of the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Helms Vineyard (100 Cabernet Sauvignon). A classic, mineral-laced Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, it exhibits lots of cedarwood, black currant, kirsch and licorice notes along with sweet tannin, full body and a beguiling, lush mouthfeel.
