Smoky, bacon fat notes cover the latent cherry, clove and nutmeg flavors in this muscular red. Dense and compact, especially on the finish, which is more savory than fruity. Best from 2017 through 2026. 80 cases imported.

There is enough wood to notice though it doesn't fight with the mostly red berry fruit, spice and pungent earth aromas. There is ample size, weight, power, muscle and concentration to the big-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract that does a fine job of buffering the very firm but not hard tannic spine on the hugely long finish. Moreover, there is excellent depth and overall, this is a big but not massive example that displays excellent balance and harmony. Range: 93-95
