Critics Scores
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2012 Barbaresco Bernardot is slightly less intense compared to the 2013 vintage of the same wine, but it shows similar sophistication. The bouquet focuses on elegant and carefully finessed aromas of wild berry, cola and balsam herb. There are smoky tones of mineral and tar as well. You could make an argument for drinking the wine now, but it's better to hold onto this bottle for a few more years.
James Suckling
Lots of ripe strawberry aromas with hints of dried citrus and floral undertones. Full-bodied, layered and chewy. A young Barbaresco with depth and structure. Needs a year or two to soften. Better in 2016.
Wine Spectator
This red is delicate, with rose petal and wild strawberry aromas complementing the light body and commensurate structure. Beautifully balanced and lingering on the finish, showing spice and mineral elements. Best from 2017 through 2025.
Wine Enthusiast
Aromas of rose, red berry, espresso, grilled herb and toast lead the nose. The taut palate offers crunchy red cherry, raspberry, star anise and white pepper alongside tightly wound, assertive tannins. It closes on a note of roasted coffee bean.
