Critics Scores
Vinous
The 2013 Barolo Cannubi is silky, vibrant and wonderfully perfumed. Sweet floral notes, meld into a core of bright red cherry, mint, white pepper and white flowers. Aromatically precise and finely sculpted, the 2013 possesses superb balance. In 2013, the Cannubi is all class. This is one of the most refined and gracious of Chiara Boschis' 2013 Barolos and a very typical wine for the vintage.
James Suckling
The purity of fruit to this is impressive. Strawberry, blueberry and lavender aromas follow through to a medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a fresh finish. Better in 2020.
Wine Spectator
Warm and inviting, offering rich flavors of cherry, raspberry, rose and spice, with flashes of mineral and tobacco. Nonetheless, this is densely packed, showing refined tannins and a chalky, stony feel on the long finish. Best from 2021 through 2038.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2013 Barolo Cannubi is a fine and sculpted wine that has benefitted from the cool vintage conditions and the long growing season. The wine shows a very pretty nose with wild berry aromas followed by pressed rose, ash, wild mint, tea and earthy black truffle. It shows fine tannins that are slightly camouflaged by the generosity of the fruit. The Cannubi cru offers extreme elegance and finesse. Despite those svelte contours, this wine is built to last.
Decanter
Chiara Boschis has united 26 producers across the Cannubi hill to create a bio-district. As of 2015, 80 of the vineyards are farmed organically. Boschis' single parcel, not quite one hectare, is in Cannubi proper. Aged predominately in barrique, one-third new, it now includes a small portion of larger casks too. The 2013 is completely enchanting and immediately expressive, yet still offers great depth and ageing potential. With a gorgeous silky texture, this is pure finesse.
