This is also strikingly spicy with exotic tea, anise, clove, cinnamon and dried orange peel nuances adding considerable interest to the black cherry, cassis and violet-suffused nose. There is seriously good richness and volume to the concentrated and marvelously seductive flavors thanks to an abundance of dry extract that really coats the palate and buffers the firm tannic spine on the energetic and beautifully well-detailed finale. I very much like the sense of harmony here as well and this should drink well both young and when fully mature.
Vinous
Healthy dark red. Conveys a blacker fruit character than the 2014 Echezeaux. (Liger-Belair equates black fruits with "more serious.") Juicy, sharply delineated and firm, slowly giving up flavors of blackberry, licorice, mint, minerals and crushed rock. Tougher today than the Reignots but dark and precise, finishing with almost peppery energy and lift. This wine will take a minimum or five or six years to reveal its size and texture.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Chateau de Vosne. The 2013 Echezeaux Grand Cru, which had been bottled in March, was already showing sophistication on the nose - great purity here with candied orange peel dallying with wild strawberry and raspberry coulis. The palate is medium-bodied with fine supple tannin. There is some new oak to be assimilated as you would expect, but like the previous vintage it is the substance and freshness on the finish that really elevates this over Louis-Michel's first vintages. Tasted June 2015.

The 2013 Echezeaux from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is a beautiful and very red fruity example of this vineyard. The bouquet is a fine blend of raspberries, cherries, Vosne spices, a very refined and complex mosaic of minerality, gamebirds and spicy new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and tangy, with a superb core, great backend mineral drive, fine-grained tannins and a very pure, complex and vibrant finish. Another stellar wine.
