Wine Advocate
The 2014 Barolo Bricco Fiasco offers a carefully balanced and elegant bouquet that is partially based on vibrant primary fruit and partially based on the more ethereal varietal notes you get from Nebbiolo. These aromas recall powdered licorice, tar and balsam herb. Vines in the Fiasco vineyard were planted in the 1940s, and the Fiasco site in Castiglione Falletto has a greater component of sand, which helps to establish those fine fruity and floral aromas. The mouthfeel is less impactful compared to recent past releases.
Vinous
The 2014 Barolo Bricco Fiasco is a typical wine for the vintage. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, smoke, iron and dried rose petal build in this super-classic, light to medium-bodied Barolo from Azelia. The wine displays lovely persistence and grip but, like all of the 2014s here, is tightly wound and a bit edgy.
James Suckling
Another very good 2014 Barolo from this producer. It combines floral and earthy notes with dried strawberries and shows a serious tannin structure. The finish packs quite a punch for this vintage.
Decanter
Azelia's Bricco Fiasco is made from 65-year-old vines, and is from the same site as Scavino's Bric del Fiasc - the latter being its name in the local dialect. There's a smokiness on the nose that may derive from the small barrels in which it has been aged, but the red fruit aromas penetrate through clearly. It's rich, full-bodied and concentrated in the mouth, with firm tannins. It's spicy and intense thanks to its good acidity, with a solid, lively and long finish. Drinking Window 2020 - 2032

Wine Spectator
Savory, sporting aromas of sandalwood, camphor, licorice and spice. Shows an underlying thread of sweet fruit before the dense tannins assert themselves on the finish. Delivers fine balance and length overall. Best from 2022 through 2038. 567 cases made, 200 cases imported.
