The 2014 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard X Block has a lot of everything. Powerful, dense and explosive, it offers superb depth and intensity in every dimension. A rich, full-throttle Syrah, the X Block is going to need a lot of time to settle down, but it is magnificent, even at this very early stage.

The 2014 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard X Block offers up a deep bouquet of dark chocolate, red and black plums, grilled meat and cassis. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, taut and concentrated, with serious mid-palate depth and structure, a tight-knit core of fruit, fine tannin and acidity that's going to need some time to unwind. Patience will be rewarded.

Even more austere, with lots of graphite, charcoal, pepper, scorched earth and black, black fruits, the 2014 Syrah Bien Nacido X Block saw the same 40 whole clusters and 25 new wood. It is medium to full-bodied, has high, integrated acidity, solid mid-palate depth and a great finish. It's another serious wine that needs to be forgotten for 3-4 years. There’s just 100 cases made, but it well worth seeking out!
