Critics Scores
James Suckling
A silky and fruity red with very fine tannins and lovely fruit. Medium-bodied, clean and bright. Second wine of Angélus. Drink or hold.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2014 Le Carillon d'Angelus has a straightforward bouquet with redcurrant, cranberry and pomegranate aromas, the oak discretely hidden behind the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, not much depth, but it retains satisfying balance on the black olive-tinged finish. Drink over the next four or five years.
Vinous
The 2014 Le Carillon d’Angélus is silky, open-knit and accessible. There is good depth and density, but from bottle the wine lacks some of the freshness it showed from barrel. I would prefer to drink the 2014 sooner rather than later.
Wine Spectator
The creamed raspberry and plum fruit glides along, with substantial but silky tannins and a long, spice-infused finish. Features a lovely violet hint.
Wine Enthusiast
The 50 new wood gives a toasty character to the wine, but is not overdone. It has intense acidity that's matched by the ripe red-berry fruits. It will be a wine for early drinking, from 2020.
