The 2014 Beaune 1er Cru les Sizies was hailed on and 40 of the crop was lost, necessitating rigorous sorting on a table de trie. It has fine volume and purity on the nose of red cherries, wild strawberry and wilted rose petals not holding back. There is nice definition here. The palate is crisp and fresh on the entry with a keen line of acidity. It remains taut and linear, fresh and saline in the mouth, with just a touch of reduction on the finish that will blow off with bottle age. Very fine.
