Critics Scores
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Produced using 50 whole cluster and including 8 Viognier, the 2014 Syrah Jack Robert's Run has a deep garnet-purple color and nose of fragrant violets and licorice hints over crushed blackberries and black cherries. Medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated with a gorgeous perfume (and not just from the Viognier), it has a great structure of ripe, rounded tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing epically. Superb Syrah! 94+
Vinous
The 2014 Syrah Jack Robert's Run Estate Vineyard is powerful, dense and explosive. The 50 whole clusters add striking aromatic top notes to a core of red cherry jam, rose petal and wild flowers. Soft, open-knit and beautifully layered throughout, the 2014 possesses exceptional balance and class through and through. This sumptuous, exotic Syrah will provide thrilling drinking for years to come.
Wine Spectator
Rich and structured, with lovely aromas of black raspberry and violet and complex flavors of smoky blackberry, crushed stone and anise that build toward well-framed tannins. Best from 2018 through 2028. 280 cases made.
Connoisseurs Guide
No one is ever going to think of this wine as the little brother as it is anything but a smaller version of its marginally pricier Eddie's Patch sibling, and it could be argued that this one is the deeper, more muscular of the two. For sure, it is no shrinking violet with its concentrated blackberry fruit and roast beefy Syrah trimmings. It offers a somewhat more direct statement at this point and surely needs cellaring, but it is a wine of real accomplishment and deserves serious attention to go along with the five to ten years of development that lies ahead.
