Here too there is a discreet application of wood setting off the elegant, cool and airy aromas of purple fruit, plum, spice and exotic tea-scented nose. The super-sleek and beautifully well-delineated medium weight flavors are like rolling pebbles around in the mouth, all wrapped in a hugely long finish that also displays just a whisper of warmth. Interestingly, this isn't quite as concentrated as the Ech but there is more minerality and a bit more supporting acidity as well.

The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux, raised entirely in new oak, has a very clean and precise, yet incredibly intense bouquet, layers of red and black fruit loaded with minerals, all with wonderful precision. The palate is extremely precise, perhaps one of the nose I have encountered in recent years, with laser-like focus, perfect acidity and a gentle grip on the Richebourg-like finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is a stunning Cros Parantoux, stunning. (NM)
