Vinous

(50 of a normal crop, from vines in Les Rouges du Bas): Bright full red. Aromas of raspberry, flint, menthol and licorice are lifted by a floral topnote. Very concentrated, tightly wound wine with terrific cut and herbal/mineral lift. Conveys an almost late-harvest dried-fruit nuance but at the same time penetrating and not particularly fleshy, showing a minty quality. Best today on the floral, slowly rising finish, which features firm but very suave tannins. This grand cru is going to take a long time to reach full maturity. (Jadot did not make a Grands-Echézeaux in 2016.) 92-95
