The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Champs Gain, 20 lost to frost, has a fresh Granny Smith apple and Conference pear-scented bouquet, a touch of granite tucked just underneath. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine line of acidity, very elegant and refined, the concentration clustered toward the second half with a light honeyed texture and touches of spice lingering on the aftertaste. This is a superbly crafted white from de la Vougeraie that comes highly recommended.
