Tim Atkin
Pale and comparatively delicate for a Clos de Bèze, this is a wonderfully nuanced, detailed wine with fine texture, top notes of peony and rose petal, succulent red cherry and raspberry fruit and tannins that stroke the palate like a cat rubbing itself against your calves. 2022-30.
James Suckling
Pitch-perfect ripeness on the nose with an air of crushed violets and sappy cherries. Whole cluster used here and very low yields. Very youthful and vibrant. An elegant, fresh cherry and cherry pastry-flavored palate with linear shape. Sleek, powerful style here. Finishes very fresh and vibrant. Give this some time. It has 20+ years and it will age superbly. Try from 2022.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2016 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru was made from two cuvées, one destemmed and the other not, so that there is around 30 whole bunch. It has a very well-defined bouquet with outstanding tension and focus. The palate is pure and silky smooth, more red fruit than black, very harmonious with very well-integrated new oak (80). This is the best that the domaine has ever made. Period.
