Decanter
This is holding its own in terms of quality of tannins and weight. It has a lot going for it - a classic Médoc signature that offers juicy, well filled out cassis and tobacco notes. I love what the Magrez team have been doing at La Tour Carnet in recent years, and this keeps up the pace.
James Suckling
Extremely aromatic with currant and blackberry character, as well as graphite. Medium body, very fine tannins and subtle flavors of berries and dark chocolate. Lovely elegance to the texture.
Vinous
The 2017 La Tour Carnet is a significant step up from the Deuixème Vin. Attractive blackberry and black olive scents on the nose with a touch of melted tar, the palate is well balanced with grippy black fruit and a powerful tarry finish. There is a lot of wine here. It is a touch brawny in style but at least there is adequate freshness.
Jeb Dunnuck
This is another impressive vintage here, and classic Bordeaux lovers should snatch up bottles of the 2017 Chateau Tour Carnet. Lots of blackcurrants, scorched earth, tobacco leaf, and hints of gravelly minerality all emerge from this deep purple/ruby-colored effort. With medium-bodied richness and depth, ripe yet present tannins, and terrific overall balance, it's not a blockbuster but just a classy Medoc that will drink nicely for 10-12 years.
