There is still some residual SO2 that partially masks the otherwise attractively airy and refined aromas of spiced pear, citrus and light smoke. There is excellent detail and punch to the relatively large-scaled flavors that possess better mid-palate density, all wrapped in a more complex if not necessarily longer finale. I very much like the texture, and this should be approachable relatively early in the context of what is typical for Chevalier.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Sumptuous and dramatic, Bouchard's 2018 Montrachet Grand Cru bursts with aromas of honeyed peaches, toasted nuts, white flowers, orange oil and fresh bread. Full-bodied, textural and enveloping, it's satiny and gourmand, with lively acids and a rich, expansive finish. If this year's Cabotte is more tightly wound and incisive, the Montrachet is irresistible for its power and scale.
Wine Spectator
Fragrant, this white delivers forthcoming aromas of seashore, hazelnut, peach and white flowers. It's creamy and vibrant, picking up flavors of vanilla, clove, butter and pastry as it unfolds on the palate. Terrific equilibrium and length. Best from 2023 through 2032.
James Suckling
A dense, layered young white with apples, pears, light creme brulee and lemon curd. It’s tight and reserved, but there is some magic coming out of the glass. Subtle strength. Drink in 2022 and onwards.
Vinous
The 2018 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has an impressive bouquet of mineral-rich citrus fruit, smoke, honeysuckle and jasmine aromas, complex and alluring. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, with plenty of tangerine and grapefruit notes, but it is the mineralité and tension that really elevate this Grand Cru. For once, this might outperform the La Cabotte.
