Buckle up. The 2018 Domaine Coche-Dury Meursault takes the village designation to new heights, extracting the most out of the estate’s winemaking mastery and immaculate harvest. Don’t just take our word for it. Director of Fine & Rare Wine Ian McFadden heralded the chardonnay as “a shocking combination of power and lift, a jaw-droppingly dramatic wine.” The 2018 Domaine Coche-Dury Meursault is intense, elegant, and supremely promising. The medium to full body showcases rolling waves of orchard fruit, citrus, hazelnut, and minerality. Lively acids dance across the palate, yielding an unctuous texture and mouthfeel that should put on weight with time. While this chardonnay may be premier cru in designation, it is grand cru in quality.

The wine is very promising indeed, unwinding in the glass with aromas of struck match, crisp orchard fruit and citrus oil, complemented by subtle hints of praline and sesame. Medium to full-bodied, with impressive cut and tension in this often rather open-knit vintage, it's elegantly textural and nicely concentrated, with tangy acids and a youthfully chalky finish. Expect it to put on weight with some time in bottle. I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with the rest of the 2018 Coche-Dury portfolio in the near future.
