Prominent levels of oak and menthol stop short of overshadowing the fresh aromas of both red and dark berries that are laced with an abundance of earth wisps. The powerful big-bodied flavors possess fine mid-palate density along with excellent punch while delivering impressive length on the austere, compact and very backward finish. I would advise not even touching a bottle for at least 10 years.

Really spicy and decadent with crushed flowers, fruit and some grilled-meat undertones. It’s full-bodied with tight, tensioned tannins that nicely frame the fruit. Reserved yet complex flavors. A thoroughly beautiful wine. Drink after 2023.
Vinous
The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru comes solely from the plot in the upper part of the clos since the plot at the bottom was pulled up last year. This includes 50 whole cluster, which you cannot sense at all. It has a refined and well-defined bouquet of blackberry, raspberry and briar aromas that gradually unfurl in the glass. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannins and fine acidity. Quite harmonious, with a smooth, creamy finish that will need three or four years in bottle. This is a composed, pure Clos Vougeot.
