Burghound
A pretty and attractively layered nose is comprised by notes of essence of pear, citrus zest, sea breeze and a touch of wood. There is good richness to the bigger and richer medium weight flavors that possess a caressing mouth feel as well as much better depth and persistence.
Vinous
The 2019 Chablis Vaillon 1er Cru is matured 30 in barrel (5 new) and 70 in tank. Fresh and animated on the nose, it has a brightness and sense of joie-de-vivre that is endearing, even at this early stage. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, taut and focused, leading into a harmonious, tensile finish. I actually think this is as good as the Cuvée Guy Moreau – just different rather than better.
Wine Enthusiast
A touch of reduction still plays about ripe pear notes on the nose of this wine. The palate adds hazelnut and a whiff of smoke, taming that ripeness and creating a rounded but fresh and balanced picture. It finishes with some yeasty savoriness and a hint of lemon zest. Beautiful.
James Suckling
Around one-third in almost exclusively old oak, this has a very strong, fresh chalky edge to the white-peach and lemon aromas. The palate has supple, seamless shape and texture, holding pithy peach at the finish. Drink on release.
