In a torrid vintage like 2018, I would expect the Beaumonts here to be quite black fruity in personality, but the wine is all red fruit this year and really superb. It delivers a fine aromatic constellation of red plums, cherries, Vosne spices, a bit of gamebird, a superb base of quite stony soil tones, bonfire and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and marvelously transparent out of the blocks, with a lovely core of fruit, ripe, seamless tannins and a long, complex and beautifully balanced finish. Fine juice.
Vinous
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Beau Monts 1er Cru might be my pick of this producer's 2018s. Limpid in colour, it offers exuberant scents of raspberry coulis, redcurrant jus and wild strawberry intermingling with iodine and violet, well-defined and probably needing 3-5 years to gain more sophistication. That will come. The palate is packed full of juicy ripe red fruit. A succulent and plush Vosne-Romanée with a mouth-filling, silky finish that has just enough salinity and edge to urge you back for another sip. Excellent, but do give it 3-5 years to develop some secondary notes. -(NM)

Here too a background application of wood can be found on the spicier and more floral nose of both red and dark currant, sandalwood and exotic tea scents. The beautifully well-detailed and more mineral-driven flavors possess a super-sleek texture before concluding in a grippy but not short finish. While this is not nearly as elegant or refined as it usually is, the structure does appear as though it will integrate in time and my projected range offers the benefit of the doubt in this regard. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts exhibits a deep bouquet of cherries, plums, orange rind, smoked duck and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple palate that's succulent and charming, framed by powdery but not unduly assertive tannins. (WK) (91-93)
Decanter
A wine that is both juicy and wonderfully hedonistic, this classy cuvée is fermented with 75 whole bunches and aged in 70 new wood. Comparatively pale in colour, but certainly not lacking in depth or palate weight, it has some tannic grip and subtle wood to complement the plush, palate-caressing fruit. Deliciously drinkable. (TA)
