This delves into very chalky territory with a peach and lemon edge, as well as very sweet florals. The palate has a succulent and smooth, rather elegant feel. A pinch of mineral clamps some definition in the finish. Drink on release.

The 2018 Chablis Forêt 1er Cru is bright and finely sculpted, with plenty of crushed rock, white flower and citrus character. Translucent and vibrant, the 2018 sizzles with tension from the very first taste. The house style dominates over the vintage, but that is not a bad thing at all, just an observation.

Ripe and appealingly fresh aromas are comprised by notes of citrus, white peach, shellfish and a whisper of iodine. There is once again very solid volume to the more finely textured flavors that possess very good verve before concluding in a refreshing bitter lemon-inflected finish. This promising effort should reward up to a decade of cellaring.

Bursting with aromas of lemon oil, orange rind, green apple and white flowers, the 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Forêt is medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and expressive, with a lively core of fruit, succulent acids and an attractively precise finish. Pretty and open, Bernard Raveneau observes that it's his favorite premier cru in the cellar for drinking in its youth.
