A very spicy and overtly floral nose consists of liqueur-like aromas of various red berries trimmed in hints of wood and menthol. There is a lovely sense of energy and delineation to the broad-shouldered yet relatively fine flavors that terminate in a beautifully textured, powerful and firm finish that possesses its usual level of youthful austerity. This very serious Bonnes Mares will also require extended keeping as it's every bit as structured as the Ruchottes.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Opening in the glass with aromas of ripe red fruits, rose petals, peonies, orange rind and exotic spices, Roumier's 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is full-bodied, multidimensional and concentrated, with a rich and layered mid-palate, a muscular chassis of powdery tannin and a bright, mineral finish. This is very much built for the long haul, but it has taken the warm vintage in its stride.
Decanter
Since the acquisition of an extra parcel of rented vines (en métayage) since 2016, Christophe Roumier's Bonnes Mares comes from a 60/40 blend of white to red soils. Lightly acidified in 2018 to preserve freshness, it's a textured, hauntingly balanced cuvée with weightless, graceful intensity, floral top notes, some fresh tobacco notes from 60 stems and finely integrated 33 new wood. Typically brilliant.
Vinous
The 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is a level up in terms of intensity, offering layers of black cherry and blueberry fruit; this could only come from this particular vineyard. Wonderful precision and quite floral. The palate is medium-bodied with firm grip, succulent tannins and a very saline finish. A very intense Bonnes-Mares, almost overwhelming toward the finish at this premature juncture, though the persistence has to be felt to be believed.
