A slightly riper and super-elegant nose offers up notes of petrol, white peach, floral and honeysuckle that are trimmed in discreet oak. The even more refined medium weight flavors also possess a wonderfully textured mouthfeel along with a bit more minerality before terminating in a palate coating, focused and strikingly long finale. This is also very classy and arguably even more stylish.
Decanter
Domaine Leflaive own an extensive 2.8ha of this Premier Cru, with vines that run up the slope from bottom to top. Aged in 20 new wood, this is considerably tighter and more focused under new(ish) winemaker, Pierre Vincent, than it was in the past, sappy, taut, chiselled fruit flavours and appealing cinnamon spice. Needs more time in bottle.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles was showing very well, opening in the glass with notes of fresh peach and pear mingled with notions of oatmeal, pastry cream and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, textural and fleshy, with fine concentration and structuring dry extract, good underlying acidity and a long, saline finish.
