Once again the nose is both fresh and ripe and while it's not quite as elegant and airy as the Côte Bouguerots there is every bit as much classic Chablis character. There is a really lovely mouth feel to the sappy large-bodied flavors thanks to the copious quantity of dry extract that also serves to buffer the exceptionally firm acid spine on the powerful, punchy and beautifully complex finale. This beautiful effort, along with the Preuses, would appear to be the most promising wines in the range in 2018 and they are among the best wines of the vintage.
Vinous
The 2018 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is a powerful, beautifully layered wine. Mint wild flowers and chamomile accents add complexity to the lemon confit fruit. Creamy and ample on the palate, the 2018 is an especially rich Clos endowed with notable textural depth and a real feeling of seamlessness. I loved it.
Decanter
The Fèvre holdings in Les Clos are the envy of Chablis - seven parcels (five of them high on the slope) covering 4.14ha, with more than half over 60 years' old. This is a brilliant expression of the Grand Cru, marrying power and intensity with focus, balance and palate length. Stylishly oaked, with the concentration to age, it's a textbook white, showing white pepper and citrus flavours and notes of kelp and oyster shell.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Aromas of waxy lemon rind, dried flowers and peaches preface the 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos, a full-bodied, ample and muscular wine that's deep, powerful and reserved. While it's early days to make a definitive judgement, it's obviously very promising.
Wine Spectator
The holding comprises 2.5 ha planted between 1947 and 1952 and all still in great condition. Pale lemon colour. The nose is restrained but you are immediately in the presence of majesty. This has the most volume of all but is not the easiest to see. It has more flesh than Les Preuses, along with a different but equal mineral vitality to Côte Bouguerots The two together make something exceptional!" 94 points Neal Martin in Vinous Antonio Galloni: "The 2018 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a beautifully defined bouquet of subtle lemon peel, Chinese white tea and jasmine aromas, very discreet and nicely focused. The palate is well balanced with a discreet spicy entry, very nice weight in the mouth and a harmonious, quite persistent finish. Possibly the best William Fèvre contribution to the 2018 vintage, this comes highly recommended.
