A hint of exoticism can be found on the passion fruit, jasmine tea and apple compote aromas that exhibit a pretty floral top note. There is a beguiling sense of energy to the delineated and overtly mineral-inflected flavors that possess a highly appealing mouthfeel while delivering outstanding depth and length on the chalky finish. This is sufficiently structured to reward mid-term cellaring but should also drink well young.
Vinous
The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières En La Richards 1er Cru, to give it its full name since the 2017 vintage, has a backward, wet pavement and petrichor bouquet that is perhaps less flattering and more serious than Sauzet’s other Premier Crus. The palate is very well balanced, with a tangy, marmalade-tinged opening, and quite spicy in style, almost as if the outgoing flavors seek to compensate for the reticent aromatics. This is a fascinating Puligny that should age with style

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Bursting from the glass with scents of pear, honeycomb, white flowers and toasty new oak, the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières En la Richarde is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with a textural, gourmand profile that's underpinned by succulent acids. This is one of the more dramatic, sun-kissed whites in the Sauzet portfolio this year, while remaining nicely balanced.
