Very pretty mid red of no great depth, doesn’t need to be. The nose shows a little elegant red fruit, but is not really au rendez-vous. Then there is an impressive depth of fruit, right from the start of the palate, a few orange zest notes in with raspberry and strawberry, very long, sensual finish. Another Chaumes success for Nicole Lamarche. Barrel Sample: 91-94
Bughound
Soft wood sets off ripe, pretty and elegant floral-suffused aromas of plum, dark raspberry and overt spice nuances. The succulent, round and delicious medium-bodied flavors possess a velvety mouthfeel along with good if not special mid-palate density, all wrapped in a sappy, balanced and persistent finish. This needs to develop more depth, but the stuffing appears to be present for that to occur. 90-92
